NAIS

The National Animal Identification System (NAIS) is a cooperative state-federal-industry partnership to standardize and expand animal identification programs and practices to all livestock species and poultry. The long-term goal of the NAIS is to provide animal health officials with the capability to identify all livestock and premises that have had direct contact with a disease of concern within 48 hours of discovery.

NAIS is being developed in three stages:

  1. Premises Identification
  2. Animal Identification
  3. Animal Tracking

Register Your Premises
“We need to register our premises to help open up doors to foreign countries, as the beef industry is now a global market. It's my duty as a seedstock producer to be a leader in this industry, and I see no reason not to support and promote premises registration. ”

John McCurry
Angus seedstock producer, Burrton, KS
